Prep for Medicare open enrollment without letting AI pick your plan

Medicare choices are confusing, plans change every year, and it is easy to focus on the monthly premium and miss whether your doctors and prescriptions are actually covered.

How to do it

  1. Write your own list first: the doctors, hospitals and pharmacy you want to keep, each prescription and dose, the care you expect next year, any travel needs, and the benefits that matter to you, like dental or hearing.
  2. Ask ChatGPT or another chatbot to explain any Medicare terms you don't know and to turn your list into a personal comparison checklist. Leave out your Medicare number and other ID details.
  3. Ask it which costs to compare besides the premium and what questions to ask before switching plans. Tell it not to recommend a specific plan.
  4. Check every plan, network and drug detail in Medicare's official Plan Compare tool, or with a free SHIP counselor, before you enroll. Fall open enrollment runs through December 7.
  5. The National Chrysler Retirement Organization's advice is to use AI as an assistant that explains and organizes, not as the one making the decision.
