AI use case

Have your phone describe labels, mail and menus out loud

Medicine labels, appliance buttons and letters in the mail can be hard or impossible to read with low vision, and there isn't always someone around to ask.

How to do it

  1. Install the free Be My Eyes app on an iPhone or Android phone and sign up as a blind or low-vision user.
  2. Open the Be My AI tab, point the back camera at the label, letter or menu, and tap Take picture. It describes what it sees in a few seconds.
  3. Tap Ask more to ask follow-up questions, like "what is the dose?" or "is this picture in focus?", or send another photo.
  4. If the answer matters or seems off, tap Call a Sighted Volunteer to have a real person look through your camera.
  5. The Be My Eyes Help Center describes Be My AI as free for users and lists everyday tasks like reading labels, matching clothes and setting up home appliances.
