How to claim and use your @mail.grokbot.com email address
Grok Bot can have its own email address, like yourname@mail.grokbot.com. The official Grok Bot account announced it on October 9, 2026. Your Bots can use it to sign up for services, collect receipts and newsletters, and draft email for you to approve. Here is what the official docs confirm, in plain English.
How do I claim my address?
- Open a chat with one of your Bots and say something like "Get yourself an email address."
- The Bot asks which name you want (the part before @mail.grokbot.com) and checks that it's free.
- It shows an approval card with the exact address. Nothing is claimed until you approve it.
- Or use the Email plugin instead. On desktop, open Connect apps in the sidebar and choose Email. On the phone, open Settings > Connect apps > Email. Under Email address, type a name in Choose a name, then choose Create address.
- When the claim goes through, the plugin shows your address with a button to copy it.
Questions
Who can claim a @mail.grokbot.com address?
Grok Bot users. If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, agent email is off by default: a team admin has to turn on Agent Email (Cursor dashboard, Grok Bot page, Bot Capabilities) before members can claim.
What names are allowed?
Lowercase letters, digits, dots, hyphens and underscores, starting and ending with a letter or digit, up to 64 characters. Reserved words such as support, admin, billing, security, help, info, team, cursor, grok and xai aren't allowed.
What if the name I want is taken?
Pick another. Every address is unique and is never given to anyone else, even after the account that claimed it is deleted, so retrying a taken name can't work. Short, common first names go quickly, so have a few backups ready (for example a name with your initial or a hyphen).
Can I have more than one address, or rename it later?
No. You get one address, and you can't rename or delete it. Choose carefully.
Which of my Bots can use it?
The address belongs to you, not one Bot. All your Bots can use it in your own chats and in routines you set up. It can't be used in Slack threads or chats where someone else is talking to the Bot, and Team Bots don't get a shared team address.
Where do I read my mail?
There's no inbox screen and no notifications. Ask your Bot, for example "What arrived in your inbox today?" or "Find the receipt from last week." Mail from the last minute may not show up in a search yet.
Can my Bot act on new email automatically?
Only through a routine you create. Ask in chat, for example "When an email arrives from billing@example.com, summarize it and tell me." A routine can watch mail from anyone, from specific addresses, or from a whole domain. It can't filter by subject, and by default it only runs for senders that pass standard email authentication.
Will my Bot send email without asking me?
No. Every send needs your approval: the Bot shows the full draft and nothing goes out until you press Send, including from routines. Instructions inside an email the Bot received never count as your permission.
What are the limits?
Up to 50 recipients per email, and up to 10 attachments (10 MB each, 25 MB total) on sent and received mail. Executable files can't be attached. Newsletters and first-contact emails go to one recipient at a time with an unsubscribe link, and there are limits on how many new people a Bot can email.
Why can't I claim an address?
Common reasons from the docs: agent email isn't available on your account yet, your team admin turned it off, the name is taken, the name breaks the rules, you already have an address, or you checked too many names in the last minute (wait a minute and try again).
